Changing Climates Environmental Society is a youth-led initiative, focused on action, alternatives, and solutions for a changing world.

In July 2005 we organised the Youth Climate Change Conference (YC3) in Victoria, BC. This brought together pioneering leaders in climate change and sustainability with youth from across Canada and the world, for a call to action to create long lasting positive effects. Following on from the incredible energy created at the Conference, YC3 aims to give youth the skills, support structure, and empowerment to lead the challenge of climate change.

From issues to ideas
Climate change is often portrayed as a "doom and gloom" issue. Yes, it's a challenge, but by focusing on ideas instead of issues, climate change can be seen as a vehicle to re-envision and redesign our society. At YC3 we're all about solutions and new ideas. Imagine the possibilities...

Moving to a solar-hydrogen economy
Everywhere there are signs that we are moving into a new age, where fossil fuels are a thing of the past, and innovation is the key to an economy powered by the sun, wind, tides, and other clean energy sources. Through YC3, explore a world where the economy is bounded by the environment that sustains it, and creative solutions in tune with nature are paramount.

Sustainability by design
Be inspired by the transformation of design. We're taking our cue from the natural world, exploring the field of biomimicry and "cradle to cradle" design. YC3 is exploring how business and industry can be "economically profitable, ecologically regenerative, and socially empowering."

An opportunity of a lifetime
YC3 is founded on the vision of climate change as an opportunity to redesign society in pursuit of sustainability. Imagine a world where cultures, age groups, sectors and countries work together? Sustainability is the common language that will get us there. Through YC3 climate change represents motivation to build solutions together.

Creating a new model
"Build a model that makes the old one obsolete" - (Buckminster Fuller). We are applying this philosophy as we generate solutions and empowerment in all areas affecting climate change.
